The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Saturday that star Anthony Edwards has been fined $35,000 for his behavior following his ejection after receiving a technical foul against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.
The three-time All-Star guard received his second technical foul and was ejected with 5:21 left in the third quarter during the Timberwolves’ 111-102 loss. He then failed to leave the court in a timely manner and threw the basketball into the Los Angeles crowd.
The technical foul resulted in an NBA-mandated suspension for Edwards, who missed Friday’s game against the Utah Jazz without pay for receiving his 16th technical foul of the season.
Without Edwards, Minnesota lost at the Jazz 117-116.
Edwards, 23, boasts team-best averages in points (27.3) and assists (4.6) to go along with 6.0 rebounds in 58 games (all starts) this season.
A three-time All-Star, Edwards has contributed 23.6 points, 5.3 boards and 4.2 assists in 360 career games (342 starts) since being selected by the Timberwolves with the top overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft.
